Orokonui Wildlife Sanctuary, Saturday 25 November 2017
Date: Saturday 25 November 2017
Time: 2-4pm
Ages: All. Children and adults
Venue: Orokonui Ecosanctuary
Cost: Gold coin per person for OAGC members; $5 per person for non-members
The Otago Association for Gifted Children (OAGC) and Tahu MacKenzie are teaming up on Saturday 25 November, from 2-4pm, to explore the amazing wildlife at the Orokonui Ecosanctuary. Tahu is an extraordinary science communicator. She led a fun-filled OAGC activity at the Gardens earlier this year and she has lots of great ideas lined up for our visit to Orokonui.
Some of the hands-on activities will include: visiting takahe, tuatara and Otago skink habitats; feeding the beautiful eel Waimarie; viewing tui, bellbirds and kaka at the bird feeders; learning about how staff care for kiwi and taking a turn with the kiwi tracking aerial; and making seed balls to plant trees like the kereru do!
If your children would be interested in being part of this activity, please email [email protected] with the number of children and adults who will attend and the children's ages. There’s a limit on numbers for this activity, so you must sign up by lunchtime on Friday 24 November if you’re interested.
