Abstract
Overexcitabilities (OEs or intensities) can pose a challenge for gifted individuals trying to fit in at
home and school. It is easy to interpret OEs as poor behaviour, or for them to attract a clinical
diagnosis. It's important to recognise OEs as typical gifted traits (even strengths!), and to assist children in using them as a tool for learning, creating, participating in interests and more.

Karen Keppel is a registered occupational therapist who specialises in supporting the needs of gifted and twice exceptional children.  Her topic, “Gifted Overexcitabilities - Friend or Foe?” explores how the intensities that often go hand in hand with being gifted can be directed to assist a child's learning and experience in the classroom and beyond.

Following Karen’s presentation there will be supper and time for people to chat and ask Karen any additional questions they may have.

Note: The AGM will be very short and informal and attending it does not mean that you will be put under any pressure to volunteer for a role or to come onto the committee, so please don’t let this put you off coming to this very interesting and informative presentation!
